Often when considering the environmental hazards presented by destructive human behavior, we fail to see further than the direct effects on our planet. However, if we look further, we can see that our behaviors are affecting not only the earth we live on but also the general human health. There are essentially two tiers to the damage posed by destructive environmental actions. Let’s examine each of them for a better understanding of this hazard. |

There's no doubt that moving into the world of being eco-friendly is becoming hugely popular. Due to new guidelines and restrictions being imposed on businesses and governments relating to greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprints, financial incentives to go green are being made available. For example, the UK government has introduced a requirement for all homes being sold or rented to have an energy survey conducted. The certificate produced from the survey gives an indication of the current energy efficiency of the property, and the potential efficiency it could attain. |

Over the past two weeks The New Green House has made a couple of friends. We would like to thank Simon at Green-Blog.org and Dan at DailyEcoTips.com. Both of these sites have expressed interest in The New Green House and were nice enough to lend us a helping hand. Because of there kindness I have started a Green Friends menu, it can be found below The New Green House menu in the left collumn. The friends list will naturally grow as our site grows. Thanks again to Simon and Dan for your support. |

About a week ago I stumbled upon Green-Blog.org while i was searching for sites i could use to help promote The New Green House. The blog entry, "Environmental activists violently attacked by timber workers," really grabbed my attention, and not for the reasons you may think. Although it is unfortunate that this confrontation played out the way it did, I personally do not feel any sympathy for those activists. Their actions are mis-informed at best and they shouldn't have been there.
As an activist there are plenty of actions to take in the hopes of saving a tree or two. You may choose to go to the most extreme like the folks from the Earth Liberation Front and set fire to a lumber yard, or maybe you have a little more sense than that and you'll settle for parking your car in front of a logging truck (please reference this article and the video tape evidence before attempting). If you have done your research, you would know that actions like these are not helping the environment. Believe it or not, its true. May i suggest a more productive action to take. I suggest that you stop sacrificing your Subarus and start educating your peers. |

You may have heard the term "going green." What exactly does that mean? In its simplest terms, green means environmentally friendly. A good question to ask is, "what makes a house environmentally friendly?" There are many answers to that question. Think about the components of a house and how they are put together to make a final product. You have your design, materials, mechanical components, appliances, landscape, and also don't forget the skilled professionals that are required to assemble all of these components into the final product, your house. A house can be turned green in any component of building. |
